What the test checks and what it does not
The test checks grammar — the main difficulty of Russian for Azerbaijani speakers. Like Azerbaijani, Russian has six cases, but the ending also depends on gender (masculine, feminine, neuter) and number, and every verb comes in two aspects. Listening and speaking are not tested and C1–C2 is not measured — we do that on the placement test, which includes a speaking part. Case tables and typical mistakes: Russian grammar. FAQ
Is the Russian level test free?
Yes. The test is free, needs no sign-up and shows your result on screen straight away. Your answers are not sent anywhere.
How long does the test take?
20 questions — about 10 minutes. If you do not know an answer, pick "I don't know": guessing skews the result.
Why does the test only go up to B2?
20 grammar questions cannot reliably tell C1 from C2. 16 or more correct answers mean B2 or higher; we pin down a higher level in conversation on the placement test.
What should I do after the test?
Send your result on WhatsApp. The free placement test is a short conversation on WhatsApp or in our office: we confirm your CEFR level and recommend a course and format. No commitment.
Is the test suitable for children?
The test is written for teenagers and adults. We set children's levels on the free placement test: Russian for Children & Teens (6–17) and Russian for Ages 3–6.
